SAN XAVIER MONSOON STUDY by V. Vaughn

Monsoon season is my favorite! For those of you unfamiliar with this amazing Southwestern weather pattern, it is truly a spectacular time. This is a late summer occurrence. The usually blue sky becomes cloudy, usually in the afternoon. It is warm and the rain starts to fall. The smell of wet desert dust is my favorite smell in the whole world. There is often lightning accompanied by loud crashes of thunder and heavy rain.

This painting captures the essence of the monsoons so well! The dark rain clouds, and the bright orange glow of the sun are wonderful! I can smell the wet desert in this painting!
